Switzerland > ICT Usage in School Switzerland > ICT Usage in School

Specific statistics on the availability of ICT infrastructures in education are not available. Some cantons have started to collect data in this area but without any central coordination, making comparison difficult.

Generally it can be said that significant differences remain between schools. Especially with respect to hardware, these differences are large. While individual institutions have a variety of modern equipment and use this well, others are using second hand equipment. Overall, however, in 2007, 99% of schools had an ICT infrastructure available with 95% enjoying Internet access.

It is generally assumed that the primary level has the lowest degree of ICT infrastructures. The secondary schools and vocational schools are usually equipped with new and powerful devices and have for some time been connected to the Internet.
