Thursday 3 April 2014, 18:00 CET Over the past four years, the iTEC project has been piloted in over 2,500 classrooms across Europe. As the end of the school pilots approaches, Will Ellis, iTEC Project Manager, will explain the background to the project and the tools, resources and approaches which have been developed to provide schools and teachers with a set of practical methods for planning curriculum delivery.
Findings of the 4th iTEC evaluation Tuesday 26 November 2013, 16:00-17:00h CET In spring 2013, teachers took part in the fourth cycle of iTEC pilots, which were focused on ‘real world’ challenges. 342 teachers across 19 countries took part in the evaluation. They reported that iTEC Learning Stories and technologies had a positive impact on student attainment, motivation and 21st century skills. Participation in iTEC also had a positive impact on teacher competences, attitudes and motivation. Moreover, teachers were motivated to expand the range of pedagogies and technologies they use and to develop their teaching in new, innovative ways. Many teachers are keen to continue to use iTEC approaches within their teaching and are encouraging their colleagues to do the same. One teacher summed up their experience as follows: “It has the potential to change my future practice because now I have learnt about other ways to get my objectives, other ways to work in groups with my students, other ways to do collaborative work, and I’m going to use it in my future lesson” (Spain, teacher interview)
Wednesday 15 May 2013 - 16:00-17:00h CET The best way to understand the great teaching and learning potential of Multi User Virtual Environments (MUVE) is to step in and give it a try! That's why this webinar will be a 'muvinar': the event will be held in 'edMondo' (not 'Edmodo'), the virtual world for education tailored by INDIRE. During the event you will get familiar with the basic functions of edMondo and will be immersed in a real learning experience. It will be an opportunity to get inspired and share ideas for developing learning stories in 3D virtual spaces. The webinar is led by Andrea Benassi, INDIRE, Italy. In order to attend the webinar “Stepping into an 'immersive' learning” you will need to create an account (it takes less than a minute) to edMondo virtual world - in which the webinar will take place - and download a “viewer” application. A viewer is a sort of browser for virtual worlds: once logged in, you’ll be able to enter edMondo,.

Wednesday 24 April 2013 (16:00-17:00h CET) During autumn 2012 teachers from 18 countries piloted iTEC learning activities. The majority of the 334 teachers embedded not just one but several digital tools (an average of 4-7 different types) to support new pedagogical approaches in their classrooms with one in five reporting that the main benefit of the iTEC resources was the facilitation of an innovative approach to learning. A Turkish teacher taking part in the pilot commented: "Today’s simple lesson plans that we use consist of just books, notebooks and other class materials. This learning story has created lessons plans which are full of discovering, thinking, creating and achieving success as well as [centred] in the real world around us.” The majority of teachers felt confident that the iTEC resources will lead to innovation in the classroom with 50% indicating that they would definitely continue to use the resources in the future.
27 February 2013, 12:30 CET The flipped classroom is a pedagogical model in which the typical lecture and homework elements of a course are reversed. It seems to be revolutionizing education in USA. But how about Europe? Some teachers are a bit baffled by the concept of a flipped classroom: it looks like more work (making videos) with little benefits. And this is true: In many European countries, teachers are already more or less following the flip approach, so starting to create lecture videos seems a bit superfluous. In this webinar we'll discuss the core principles of a flipped classroom and different ways in which it might practically be achieved, from a European perspective. The webinar is led by researcher Tarmo Toikkanen from Aalto university in Finland. Participants are welcome to tell about their own experiences, share tips and debate.
Monday 17 December 2012 (16:00-17:00hrs CEST) Enhanced student autonomy and student motivation have been some of the results of the second cycle of the iTEC learning activities. The evaluation of iTEC pilot activities draws information from several sources including questionnaires and case study data collection which includes lesson observations and interviews with the teachers, head teachers and students. The second cycle involved 450 pilots from March to June 2012 in 15 countries. The results will be presented in a webinar on 17 December 2012 at 16:00 CET. The webinar will be hosted by Dr Cathy Lewin, Senior Research Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University, the organisation that coordinated the evaluation.

Wednesday 25 April 2012 (16:00-17:00hrs CEST) A step towards the classroom of the future was taken when 310 classes, from 17 countries from across Europe, tested experimental and creative Learning Stories created by the iTEC project. The first evaluation results suggest that, according to the majority of teachers tested, Learning Stories are an innovative and important pedagogical tool. Moreover, the participation had a positive impact on teachers’ use and understanding of digital tools. The results, based on questionnaires from 280 participating teachers and over 40 case studies, will be presented in the iTEC webinar on 25 April 2012 at 16:00 CEST. The webinar will be hosted by Dr Cathy Lewin, Senior Research Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University, the organisation that coordinated the evaluation.
2 November 2011 (15:00-16:30hrs CET) What factors are currently influencing the educational innovation? What are the trends relevant to teachers and learners today? How has the iTEC project worked to identify these trends? iTEC is a four-year, pan-European project aimed at creating meaningful pedagogical scenarios for the future classroom and, from these, deriving learning activities that engage teachers, learners and stakeholders outside the school. The scenario development is based on an in-depth trend analysis that identifies the underlying and the most influencing social, technological and pedagogical trends existing today. The aim of this free webinar is to present the main trends which have been identified collaboratively with various stakeholders through a consultation process and to inform the participants about the development of scenarios of innovative classroom practices. In this interactive webinar the participants will have an opportunity to discuss and present questions about the iTEC trends' analysis and to present their own ideas.
